A party with a purpose: How family and friends came together to have an impact around the globe
Watching catastrophe after catastrophe unfold around the world, I knew I wanted to take action. It was important to me to choose an organization that could really make a difference and would be neutral and impartial. That was how I found Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
For my fundraiser, I chose to host a party. It was a real group effort, with family and friends pitching in. My parents and in-laws made their signature dishes, my teenagers and their friends helped to serve and clean up afterwards. Luckily, one of my friends was releasing an album of original music on the theme of humanity and agreed to play at the party
We received such wonderful feedback from our guests about how much they appreciated the home cooked meal and seeing family and friends come together for such a good cause. We were delighted to have raised over $25,000 with our event.
